Hi, my name is Otis.

Life has taught me not to stress out too much. I've definitely had some stressful times, but the orange in me says 'relax man, it'll all work out'.

I lived in a dumpster behind a hotel at the time of my rescue. A very stressful time…my family was gone, no idea what happened, but one day I found myself alone and hungry. I needed to find some food. Hunting in the winter is very hard and I was used to my food magically arriving in my bowl. My orange side said to me 'hey man there might be something to eat in this big blue metal bin' and sure enough, there were leftovers that had been thrown away. Everyday the big dumpster had some new leftover food. It wasn’t the best, but I'm a survivor.

Sometimes, when it was very cold, the Hotel staff would let me warm up in the lobby. I curled up in a chair hoping to stay inside but I never could. They said that it’s not good for business to have a cat living in the Hotel. My cool orange side said 'don’t wear out your welcome but enjoy the warmth while you got it, man'.

This is the way life went until I met a volunteer from the rescue. She spotted me living behind the Hotel. One day she came and scooped me up and my next adventure began.

Rescue was a bit stressful at the beginning, too. The trips to the vet, the medication, living with other animals. It’s a good thing my orange side is calming and told me that this was the beginning to the good life, just chill and bring out your inner peace. That inner peace was a little difficult to find when I had to have ear medicine everyday for months! An untreated ear infection ate a hole in my ear drum! It’s all healed up now. And my poor frozen toe pads have peeled and healed. My hair is back to normal after being on a better diet. I also have a lot more energy…and time…to play. Not being so concerned about survival gives me lots of time to be playful again. I love cat nip, and all cat toys! I play with all the toys!

The orange in me absolutely loves people and cuddling and being wherever you are. I'm relaxing into the indoor life and just having a wonderful stress-free time. And I'm ready for adoption! Come and get me!
