Hello…
I’d like to introduce myself. My name is Jalapeño, but if that’s too hard to pronounce, you can call me Hali for short. Why am I named after such a fiery food, you ask? Well, I have to be honest, when I was named I was one spicy little kitten! Hissy and fierce, just like my mama taught me.
My mom is a feral cat and taught my siblings and I how to survive, as best she could. But a grumbling tummy is hard to ignore and there was a lady who kept leaving good snacks in her yard. SNAP!!! My brother and I got caught in a trap!!
I had let my mama down, but I was determined to still make her proud. I hissed! I growled! I was all sorts of spicy! But oh the food was so yummy! Eventually, slowly I succumbed to the scrumptious food, snug beds and then those ear scritches got me, too. Before I knew it, I was a full fledged indoor cat having my daily naps on the window sill.
Instead of huddling for warmth, my brother and I are playing tag. Instead of hunting for food, we’re searching for jingle balls behind the couch. It’s a great life and I’ll always be grateful to the kind lady who trapped us. Sorry if I wasn’t very kind to you at the time, but I didn’t know it’d end like this. Please keep leaving yummy snacks in your yard for my mama.
As for me, I’m going to live up to my spicy name in a new way. Have you heard the saying “Variety is the spice of life?” I want to be that kind of spice … experiencing new and exciting things with my very own family everyday!
